Strategy, ACTion and Art

“If I could say it in words...

“If I could say it in words there would be no reason to paint.”

— Edward Hopper

Did you know that some artists consider art to be a form of conversation? Edward Hopper was one of them! Even though art is usually thought of as a visual medium, it can be just as powerful as words - or even stronger, like Hopper believed!

Vision

Our vision is to be a company that's always pushing forward, taking decisive action to achieve our goals and make a positive impact on the world. We believe that taking action is the key to success, and we're committed to taking bold, strategic steps to achieve our vision and create value for our community.

We want to be known for our ability to execute, turning our ideas into reality with speed and efficiency.

Instead of overthinking and analysing, we'll prioritize being proactive and adapting quickly to changing circumstances to capitalize on new opportunities.

We aim to be a force for positive change, using our resources and influence to tackle pressing social and environmental issues and make a meaningful difference in people's lives.

“The emotions are sometimes so strong that I work without knowing it. The strokes come like speech.”

— Vincent van Gogh

Okay, this quote from Vincent van Gogh about art is seriously trippy. It's like he was in a whole other world when he was creating his masterpieces. Instead of trying to put his feelings into words, he just channeled them straight into his paintings.

Action

Without taking action, even the best plan or strategy will just be an idea or a useless document. Here are four things A Curious Tractor considers when moving from strategy to action:

1. Overcome inertia

Actually doing something is usually the hardest part of any plan. It's tempting to overthink things or feel totally swamped by a project. But if you just take that first little step, you can break through the initial resistance and start gaining momentum toward your goals.

2. Course correction

Taking action is super important for a business to test out its assumptions and make necessary adjustments. By getting feedback and putting things into motion, a business can fine-tune its strategy and roll with the punches when things change. If a business just keeps analysing and planning without taking action, it might end up stuck in a never-ending cycle.

3. Build confidence

Doing things and achieving success can really boost confidence and keep the ball rolling. Each little win can push you to the next, making progress feel like a good habit. It's a great way to keep everyone motivated and excited about what they're doing.

4. Create a sense of urgency

Getting things done can really light a fire under a business and help it reach its goals faster. Instead of just talking about plans forever, setting deadlines and taking action can keep things moving forward without wasting time in endless analysis.

“An artist is not paid for his labor but for his vision.”

— James McNeill Whistler

It's like James is saying that the real worth of art comes not from the effort put into creating it, but from sharing a unique perspective through a visual medium. And the best part? That perspective can endure for eternity.

Art

Art is super important for the world because it lets us express ourselves, get creative, connect with others, and understand different cultures and perspectives. This makes our lives richer and expands our human experience. Plus, art can inspire change, challenge what's normal, and help push social and political movements forward.

At A curious Tractor we want to make sure we can:

1. Foster a creative culture

Encourage a culture of experimentation, risk-taking, and innovation within the organization. Provide employees with the space, time, and resources to explore new ideas and creative approaches.

2. Emphasize design

Invest in good design and incorporate it into all aspects of the business, including product design, packaging, branding, and marketing materials. Design should not only be aesthetically pleasing but also functional and intuitive.

3. Use storytelling

Use storytelling as a way to communicate the company's mission, values, and impact. Storytelling can be a powerful tool to connect with customers and employees on an emotional level and make the company's message more memorable.

4. Collaborate with artists

Partner with artists or artistic organizations to incorporate art into the business. For example, a company might commission a mural or sculpture for its office, or sponsor a local theatre or music festival.

5. Encourage cross-disciplinary collaboration

Foster collaboration between employees from different departments or areas of expertise. By bringing together people with diverse backgrounds and perspectives, the company can generate new ideas and approaches that draw on multiple disciplines.
