Seeding ACTion #2

Vision, ACTion and Art

A huge hello and virtual hug to all the A Curious Tractor newsletter subscribers.

This is only newsletter #2 from Nic and I and we are so pumped to have even 1 person following on to see what we are up to. I will get better at this, I promise…

We had some beautiful feedback from the last email with one key question…

What is it that you actually do?

Well, we don’t really know that yet - but we promise it is not going to be boring ;)

For those of you that know Nic and I, change happens pretty quickly. So this week we are trialing a new format that shows off our current focus for A Curious Tractor.

Hope you love it and please keep the beautiful, ugly and brutal feedback coming!

Vision

  • Been thinking more and more about innovation in criminal justice. Kicked off this idea that we are calling Re-connected…a hub of information about support services, resources and stories for the sector and people in the system. Super early days but mocked an example here if you want to check it out. Hit us with questions and ideas if you are keen on it.

  • We had some epic chats whilst attending Human Kind in Sydney a few weeks ago. Being surrounded by innovation and energy provided the perfect environment to think about the next season of ACT and know that crazy projects and ideas are everywhere.

  • …and…we launched our new website. We think it’s pretty rad. A few bugs to work out but the vision is to have fun with it and create an engaging and interactive experience for ya’ll. Check out one idea we had to break up our ACT offerings into three different categories.

ACTion

  • Our criminal justice project continues to grow. Con-nected has been incredible in building a network of people interested in how technology and support meet in the middle to help people through this old cooked legal and justice system. A newsletter is due on Friday to update you all on progress.

  • I actually had a week off last week. It was so rad to sit, think and swim my way into relaxation and mindfulness. I re-read David Copperfield and had a few realizations that I will continue to mull over regarding my work with Con-nected. A few thoughts below:

    • The book highlights the exploitation of the weak and helpless by the powerful in an industrial society.

    • Dickens portrays the suffering of orphans, women, and the mentally disabled to illustrate that exploitation is the norm, rather than pity or compassion.

    • He draws on his own experience to describe the inhumanity of child labor and debtors' prison.

    • Throughout the novel, Dickens demonstrates that the weak are unable to challenge the powerful directly and must ally themselves with equally powerful characters to escape their oppression.

  • Nic has been building, sanding and painting up on the ACTion Lab in Witta. We are now ready for some visitors to try out the experience. Check out this page, keen on any feedback on what this experience feels like for outsiders (not Nic and I - we are too biased)…and let us know if ya wanna stay 😁 .

Art

  • This week for Art I wanted to share something that I hope is useful. I was/am a bit of Notion addict. I love templates that help to process information and give insight into doing things more efficiently or with a different lens. Here are 5 templates that you can duplicate and kick-start your Notion journey today:

As always, we truly appreciate you all and hope to above either made you smile, laugh, think or moved you one step closer to ACTion.

Peace out

BK

Never thought I would ever stand in an old cinema and take a photo of Wim Hoff voraciously dancing to drums and bass…but I did :)
