How to Act

Nic’s beloved red tractor

Welcome to Edition 1 of A Curious Tractor’s regular newsletter Seeding ACTion.

As I write this, I am talking to one subscriber (me) and then I will send it to Nic.

If you have since subscribed, welcome to a place where cool ideas are seeded, nurtured and harvested. Where good people come together to grow.

My name is Benjamin Knight and I am super proud to have kicked off this adventure with my good friend Nicholas Marchesi. This is us:

Nic

Ben (and one of his daughters Jolie)

We are two very curious people that have been blessed with the ability to act, to fail, get back up, and lean into things defined as ‘crazy’.

A Curious Tractor (ACT) exists to help others to act on what they believe; to take people who have the seed of an idea and transform it into impactful outcomes.

Born out of a love of tractors and now a 150-acre property on the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, ACT will be the ACTion station taking a hatchet to mediocrity through creative energy and drive.

These newsletters will be a place to update you on what’s been happening in our worlds in addition to things that are helping us to act.

Let’s jump on the tractor and start harvesting.

The ACTion lab

About 6 months in, we connected, acted, failed, helped and perspired our way into launching this thing. It started with one phone call after realising that we had some skills, when combined, could really shake up people’s innovative mindsets and help move ideas into action.

In this time we have built a mobile embassy, kicked off a prison rehabilitation app (Con-nected), built cabins on the farm and connected with hundreds of people who envisage crazy projects but don’t know where to start.

We are so pumped to be at a stage in our careers where making crazy come true is instinctual and really excited to see what impact we can make.

The IMAGI-NATION{Embassy}

From the farm

While I was having a break with the fam over the holidays’ Nic was up at the farm doing 16-hour days building some next-level cabins and paddocks for his new friends you can see below.

Our farm friends

Over the next few months we will be building out some ACTion lab farm stay opportunities so if you are keen to know more please do reach out.

Check out one of the first cabins below that is a short buggy ride into the valley and a short walk to a secluded stream and waterfall. I can attest to the beauty and connection that you feel to nature after only one night.

The Barbara - Forest Cabin

Something we learned

The Australian Capital Territory (ACT) has one of the highest rates of return to corrective services, with 63.4% of people released from the ACT prison returning to prison or community corrections within two years.

This is one of the reasons that we are working in the ACT with a passionate group of people to support people through Drug and Alcohol Treatment Orders (DATO)s.

You can check out where we have got to here, with heaps more coming soon. Over the next month, we will be starting a regular newsletter for people interested in updates so reach out if you would like to subscribe.

What brought us joy

I have been deep in the world of David Lynch and digging into some Transcendental Meditation.

It can be hard to know where to start with his type of creative flair, so here are a few baby steps.

Just for fun
